Gelli Plate, Inktense Pencils and Inktense Blocks

DSCN0299Thank goodness it rained today!  I can’t sun print fabric, so I am trying out my new supplies–first on paper, eventually on fabric.

I bought a Gelli Plate at Blaine’s Art here in Anchorage. With acrylic paint and some paper, I made the plant prints. The Derwent Inktense Pencils and Blocks are from Dharma Trading, but Blaine’s carries them.  I fooled around on some watercolor paper with these.  I’ve read that these are permanent on fabric when heat-set, just as the gelli prints will be when I use fabric paints (or mix acrylic paint with fabric medium) and heat-set them.

The best artwork always comes from Nature:  Below is a pic of a romanesco cauliflower from the Farmer’s Market. DSCN0295
