Yarns in stock — finally

It’s another sunny day in Anchorage and it is killing me not to sun print fabric, but a few other things have to be done.  I just listed some yarn in my shop and I’ve also gotten the lawn mowed.

A reader asked for some process photos for the self-striping yarn, so I’ll show one here: DSCN0046First I reskein the yarn (two to four skeins at a time) into a 60-foot skein in the living room, between two chairs places 30 feet apart.  Then I section it off into however many different color segments I’m going to have, e.g., 12 for Russian Rainbow, 9 for Botanicals on Black.  I tie off each segment.  After soaking in water for at least an hour, each has its turn in the hot dye bath (see photo above).  Cooling, rinsing, reskeining, hanging to dry, photographing and listing, printing the label….  That’s about it! Ask me any questions you may have.
